THE SELHUBER-UNKEL GROUP

We are an interdisciplinary group working at the interface of materials science and life science. Our academic backgrounds range from biotechnology and chemistry to materials science and medical engineering. Furthermore, nearly every project combines disciplines to approach longstanding scientific problems with novel and innovative perspectives. In addition, together we represent over 10 countries spanning the globe!

Welcome to Dr. Didem Aycan. She has been awarded a grant by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TUBITAK). Didem will be working on the topic of "Fabrication of Biopolymer-based Smart Materials for Soft Robotic Microsystems" at the group.

Congratulations to Yasmin Antonelli

PhD student Yasmin Antonelli from our group has been awarded the Young researcher fellowship: Crossborder mobility grant by Cancéropôle Est.

With this grant she will be working on the project Artificial Tumors: Influence of Confinement and Mechanical Properties in Cancer Cells Malignancy and Resistance. She will be hosted by the Institut de cancérologie Strasbourg Europe (ICANS) and will work closely with  Dr. Alexandre Detappe's team in Starsbourg, France.

New Publication!!

New publication in partnership with the research group of Prof. Dr. Jasmin Aghassi-Hagmann at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology(KIT). Prof. Aghassi-Hagmann is also a member of the Cluster of Excellence 3DMM2O.

The paper titled "Direct Writing of Liquid Metal Microheaters for Microvalve Applications" can found here. It talks about direct writing of liquid metal (LM) based microheaters for microvalve applications based on thermo-responsive polymers.
