Two- and multi-terminal neuromorphic memory devices based on mixed conductors
The coupling between ionic and electronic motion makes mixed conductors highly interesting for novel neuromorphic applications that rely on the existence of a continuum of (non-binary) memory states. In this project, we aim to control hysteresis in the conductivity of novel two- and multi-terminal devices, using dynamic doping by mobile ions. The devices developed in this project will also be used to investigate the fundamentals of (coupled) charge motion in these systems.
Apart from being embedded in the Research Training Group on mixed ionic-electronic transport, the candidate will work in a small team that studies various aspects of doped organic semiconductors using experimental, numerical and theoretical methods.
This project involves device fabrication in a cleanroom, advanced electrical characterization and numerical modelling and therefore requires a background in experimental physics or equivalent. Previous experience in a relevant research topic is not essential but desirable.
Applications should be solely send via the JoinUs platform, see link to the right.
Open Applications
To all potential and actual applicants. If we have open positions, these will be announced on the website - here. In case there aren’t, you can still send an open application, especially if you have own funding or have a concrete idea for a specific joint application. In all cases, when applying, explain why you think your profile is relevant to our research and what you might contribute. Note that we do not have any infrastructure for doing chemical synthesis. Also note that due to the large number of open applications we receive, we will only send a response in case we can positively follow up. We hope for your understanding.
